Local Expertise
The 1,240 trainees and 2,300 students learning trades and studying courses relevant to microtechnology in the Chemnitz catchment area means that there are plenty of highly qualified workers available – and labour costs are moderate when compared with international rates.
The Technology Centre Chemnitz (TCC) set up in 1991 is the most successful technology centre in eastern Germany: 95% of the companies set up at the TCC are operating successfully on the market today. 53 companies are currently based at the TCC and these provide approx. 360 jobs. So the Smart Systems Campus is building on a very successful concept and this will be transferred to operations at the start-up building. Having the Center for Microtechnologies ZfM, the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Electronic Nano Systems ENAS, the Institute for Printed Media Technology or established companies in the vicinity guarantees outstanding expertise in turning, tilting and accelerating sensors and growth potential in a technology with a great future – printing products with electronic features (Printronics).
GEMAC and 3D-Micromac AG particularly are two companies with outstanding expertise within the microsystems technology network.
