Fraunhofer ENAS
The Fraunhofer Research Institute for Electronic Nano Systems – known as the Fraunhofer ENAS – developed out of the former Chemnitz Institute of the Fraunhofer IZM in 2008. It conducts applied research in the fi eld of systems integration using micro and nano technologies. Systems integration is not only increasingly dictating the economic success of manufacturers and operators in the consumer electronics, telecommunications, engineering, medical engineering and automobile construction sectors – it is also a crucial factor in scientific and technical developments because of the increasing complexity and miniaturisation of innovative products. Multi-functionality, the use of various components (multi devices), which are usually made of different materials, play a signifi cant role here. The integration of nanomaterials and the typographical production of functions are creating new demands and new concepts for designs, production, testability, reliability and safety. The Fraunhofer ENAS is tackling these challenges and is supporting companies and research partners in this task.
